Little Medical School brings medicine, science, and the importance of health to children in an entertaining, exciting, and fun way. Children learn and have fun as they dress up like doctors, learn how to use instruments doctors use, and understand how the body works! The mission of Little Medical School is to teach elementary school children about the exciting field of medicine. Small sessions led by a trained Little Medical School teacher ensures individual attention. 6-WEEK PROGRAM TOPICS
OCTOBER 2 | WHAT'S IN THE DOCTOR'S BAG? Students learn about instruments doctors use.
OCTOBER 9 | FIRST AID. Learn how to respond when first aid is needed. Identify items that should be in a first aid kit. Explain basic ways to approach common injuries. Create a take home first aid kit.
OCTOBER 16 | THE WONDERFUL BRAIN. Learn the key facts of the brain and how it works. Identify the lobes of the brain and what each lobe controls. Understand the anatomy of the brain by building a model.
OCTOBER 23 | SPINE IS FINE. Learn what the spine does and why it is important. Learn the different levels of the spine. Make a spine model.
OCTOBER 30 | PHARMACY. Explain what a prescription is and what information it must contain. Gain an understanding of how pharmacists dispense prescriptions. Practice writing prescriptions and know what to consider before prescribing.
NOVEMBER 6 | MEDICAL FUN & GRADUATION! A fun review of the course! Students graduate from The Little Medical School and receive a diploma.
