SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28
10:30am–2:00pm | Make-and-Take Workshop
Kids of all ages can get into the Brazilian party spirit by constructing a Carnaval mask or making maracas inspired by our St. Louis Sound exhibit.
11:00am–12:00pm and 1:00–2:00pm | Samba Bom, Live in Concert
Revel in the Brazilian music and dance experience of Samba Bom, whose concert will warm up your cold winter day. Explore the history of Brazil and the country’s winter traditions while having a true “winter getaway”. The hourlong performance will end with a special interactive instrument experience.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 29
10:30am–2:00pm | Make-and-Take Workshop
Kids of all ages can celebrate the season with snowflake crowns and instruments inspired by the St. Louis Sound exhibit.
10:45–11:30am and 12:00–12:45pm | Jazz Story Performance by the Sheldon
Experience the story of America’s unique creation of jazz, from Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday to Dave Brubeck and Herbie Hancock. Enjoy this family experience with this lively 5-piece band from the Sheldon!
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 30
10:30am–1:00pm | Make-and-Take Workshop & Sensory Bin
Join us to make a snowflake or other wintery ornaments and enjoy our fun winter themed sensory bins that are great for children under age 6 to explore and touch.
11–11:30pm and 12–12:30pm | Step into the Story: The Snowy Day and The First Day of Winter
Snow day! The St. Louis Black Authors of Children’s Literature presents a special storytelling of Ezra Jack Keats’s The Snowy Day and The First Day of Winter by Denise Fleming. During this engaging Step Into the Story, catch a glimpse of the giant puppets and set pieces that will be featured in our weekend drive-through evening event The Glowy Snowy Day by The Rep! Don’t forget your special winter book; complements of Ready Readers.
For those of us who can’t stay awake until midnight, join us for a New Year’s countdown when the clock strikes noon at our Noon Year’s Eve Celebration on Friday, December 31!
