Parent & Me—In Motion | Kids Out and About St. Louis

Parent & Me—In Motion

Bring your children ages 2–5 to the Missouri History Museum for an action-oriented version of Parent & Me! Kids will experience the history of St. Louis through movement. At 10am each day, families will visit a gallery to enjoy a few hands-on activities and one craft. From 10:25–11:00am, kids will join professional dancer and storyteller Mama Lisa for an interactive movement workshop!

Reservations are required, and space is limited.
Registration opens on Wednesday, January 9! (Missouri Historical Society members will receive early registration access beginning January 7.)

This program costs $15 per child for four-class series but is free for MHS members.

Program Schedule

Week One (February 7)—Heigh Ho and Go featuring Muny Memories

What better way to celebrate 100 years at The Muny than to work it out? Mama Lisa leads the way for kids to revisit the magic of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Everyone will sing and dance along to music from the 1969 season.

Week Two (February 14)—More than a Mask featuring The 1904 World’s Fair

Children will learn from Mama Lisa the “how” and “why” objects bring meaning to stories and dance. This signature session helps little ones learn about African artifacts as they move to the rhythm of the drums.

Week Three (February 21)—Caribbean Island Hop featuring Seeking St. Louis: Reflections

Katherine Dunham’s choreography features many cultures of the Caribbean. Join Mama Lisa for a trip to the islands to study dances from Cuba and Trinidad.

Week Four (February 28)—Oz-a-Sight featuring Muny Memories

Looking forward to one more chance to feel like a star at The Muny? This is it and all that! Mama Lisa will lead a dance and sing-along in the Wizard’s magical land of Oz.
