Museum Connection: The Field House Museum was one of twelve row houses scheduled for demolition in the 1930s. When local influencers began rallying to save the house in honor of poet Eugene Field, school children in St. Louis raised over $2,000 in pennies and nickels during the Great Depression to help. Museum School Days were created to honor their contribution by providing St. Louis school children with the opportunity to tour the historic Field home free of charge on select days throughout the year. These programs are sponsored by our generous members and donors.
