The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois is proud to once again be presenting Camp Roehr after a two year hiatus. Camp Roehr is a seven-day residential summer camp for children living with epilepsy and is being held this year from June 5th through June 11th. Camp Roehr provides young people with epilepsy a variety of opportunities to focus on their strengths and have fun in a safe, supportive environment.
Camp Roehr is a seven-day residential camp for children between the ages of six and 18 years old who have epilepsy.
Camp Roehr was originally named in honor of Mr. Tony Roehr. Mr. Roehr was a strong advocate in St. Clair County, Illinois, for those with developmental disabilities throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. Tony was very active by serving on the boards of several disability organizations in St. Clair County. He also served as the director for Advocates for the Developmentally Disabled in the 1980’s. Mr. Roehr had a close relationship with the Epilepsy Foundation for many years. Sadly, St. Clair County lost a great advocate when Mr. Roehr died in 1991. The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois wanted to honor his memory. Thus, the annual camp for children with epilepsy was named Camp Roehr.
Camp Roehr gives young people with special needs a variety of opportunities to focus on their strengths.
With a staff of caring, qualified counselors and medical support personnel, the children are able to make new friends and have a great time in a safe, supportive environment.
At Camp Roehr your son and/or daughter will:
-- Build self-esteem
-- Develop social skills
-- Create life-long friendships
-- Participate in team building
-- Learn about living with epilepsy
