Raise a glass for our heroes! Throughout the month of November, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and Tour Center is building upon Anheuser-Busch’s longstanding support of the military by honoring veterans, active military and first responders through the annual Cheers to the Heroes program.
To celebrate Veterans Day, the brewery will host a Cheers to the Heroes celebration in The Biergarten on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 2 to 5 p.m. The celebration includes the Heroes Brewing Competition tasting and judging, featuring beers from seven brewing teams representing the Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, EMS/St. Louis Fire Department and law enforcement, who have each created unique brews for the competition with the help and expertise of an Anheuser-Busch Brewmaster.
The Heroes Brewing Competition judges include Anheuser-Busch Brewmasters; John “U-Man” Ulett from KSHE Morning Show; and members of the military. There will also be a “People’s Choice Award” for Cheers to the Heroes celebration-goers to cast their votes for their beer of choice.
The Heroes Brewing Competition winning beer will be brewed in the Anheuser-Busch Research Pilot Brewery and will be available for purchase in The Biergarten in early 2019, with proceeds going to the winning team’s charity of choice. Last year, the EMS/St. Louis Fire Department team won with their brew, the Backdraft Stout, and raised $1,500 for T.A.P.S., which offers help, hope, and healing to all those grieving the death of a loved one serving in America's Armed Forces.
St. Louisans can also nominate veterans and first responders to be KSHE’s Hero of the Day. More information can be found under “contests” at KSHE95.com. Hero of the Day winners will receive a $25 gift card to The Biergarten and are encouraged to attend the Cheers to the Heroes celebration.
All month long, brewery guests can purchase Brew it Forward cards to donate a beer to a veteran or first-responder who visits The Biergarten. Proceeds from the Brew it Forward program will be donated to Folds of Honor – a nonprofit organization providing educational scholarships to military families. While at the brewery, guests can also browse Anheuser-Busch employees’ personal and historical military memorabilia on display in the Tour Center.
