Book Review: Close to Famous

by Elisa Dohrmann, 10 years old

I would say that Close to Famous, by Joan Bauer, is a really good book. It makes you think about what you have and about how people not as lucky as you, are.  Other people that read the book said they liked it because some parts make you worry and some parts are exciting and surprising.  Other people say the characters' personality shapes the story and have a big part.  The main character, Foster McFee, and her mama have to face many challenges in their life.

I thought Joan Bauer wrote the book nicely with the words she used and how she shaped the characters.  Boys and girls can get very interested in the book from reading just a few pages in the book.  This is one of my favorite books!  I would recommend kids from 4th grade through middle school read this book, and these other books by Joan Bauer: Hope was Here and Almost Home

Close to Famous is a 2013-14 Mark Twain Award Finalist.
