Rise is a nonprofit organization that provides resources to nonprofit community-based development organizations to help revitalize the St. Louis urban core.
  • Company Overview
We work with grass roots neighborhood-based community development organizations. Our real estate development is about revitalization rather than gentrification.

Our work focuses on distressed neighborhoods, to build real estate markets where they are virtually nonexistent, thereby providing private market forces with the confidence to follow with further investment.

We are known for tackling tough development projects and making them work with innovative and creative financing techniques.

It is safe to say that Rise has helped save several St. Louis neighborhoods and we play a critical role in the revitalization of the city. Our work is designed to stimulate investment in distressed neighborhoods, using a “first in” philosophy to build markets.

“First-in” means exactly that—our redevelopment projects are designed to build the momentum and confidence that lead private market forces to follow with further investment. The redevelopment of Washington Avenue and the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood are two success stories that prove our strategy works.

    How do we do it?
We provide technical assistance to help neighborhood organizations realize and maintain their visions of positive change.

We partner with neighborhood organizations to develop housing and other improvements to revitalize neighborhoods.

We provide development consulting and historic preservation consulting services, as well as mapping and database management services, empowering both nonprofit organizations and for-profit developers to effect sustainable neighborhood revitalization.

We provide pre-development funding to enable nonprofit organizations to begin work on difficult, important redevelopment projects where conventional financing is not available.

We are a conduit for knowledge between organizations, residents, and institutions facing similar struggles and working toward similar goals, bringing consistency to the region-wide community development process.

    We make a difference!
